ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible for membership in SMCU if you are:
- A resident, employee, or student in San Mateo County
- An employee of one of our partner companies
- An employee of a company that belongs to the Golden Gate Better Business Bureau or one of the 15 Chambers of Commerce within San Mateo County that we serve
- A family member, domestic partner, or roommate of an SMCU
member
TO JOIN
Joining SMCU couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is:
- Complete and sign a Master Membership Agreement Form, available at any branch.
- Return the completed form to any branch—in person or by mail. You must also provide your Social Security number or ITIN, as well as an original, unexpired government-issued photo ID and secondary ID such as an unexpired credit card or home utility bill.
- Pay a one-time, non-refundable membership fee of $10.00 ($1.00 for a Youth Membership).
Once you have completed these steps, you are eligible to apply for a vehicle loan, real estate loan, credit card, or personal loan. You can also take advantage of our deposit services—such as Checking, Money Market accounts, Certificate accounts, and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
