Privacy Policy

At SMCU, we strongly believe that everyone has the right to keep their information private. To learn more about what SMCU does with your personal information, please click here.

SMCU encourages you to take part in protecting your financial privacy. We offer the following guidelines to help keep your personal information confidential:

  • Be careful not to give account information over the phone to people claiming to represent SMCU. If you have any concerns, ask for the caller's name and phone number, so you can call back to confirm association with SMCU. As an added measure, call our Member Services and Support Center at (650) 363-1725 to confirm the call.
  • Do not share financial information with any merchants unless you are making a purchase or entering into an agreement with them that involves your money or your account.
  • Make sure that SMCU has current information on you such as address, phone numbers, and e-mail so we can easily contact you if we detect potentially fraudulent activity on any of your accounts.
  • Never divulge your personal identification number (PIN) to anyone. Don't write it down in an obvious place or carry it in your wallet. The safest thing to do is pick a PIN that's easy for you to remember but difficult for someone else to figure out.
  • If you lose or misplace your credit card, debit card, or checks, inform SMCU at once.
  • If you wish to stop receiving unsolicited credit card offers in the mail, call the Credit Reporting Industry pre-screening opt-out toll-free number at (888) 567-8688 and follow the recorded prompts.

If you have any questions about your privacy or would like to restrict information sharing, please call our Member Services and Support Center at (650) 363-1725, and we will be happy to help you. Or, if you would rather send us an email indicating you would like to restrict information sharing, please send us your choice at or click here for a printable PDF.
